Dr Tom Silva is an Australian-trained doctor with more than a decade of hospital experience across major surgical and medical specialties, forming the foundation for his expertise in nerve-related conditions and hand procedures. After completing comprehensive intern and residency training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, he spent the next 10 years working in centres of excellence across Australia, rotating through orthopaedics, emergency medicine, oncology and broader surgical departments. This experience has sharpened his diagnostic accuracy and procedural skill.
As the Director of Carpal Tunnel Clinic and Kangaroo Point Medical Centre, an affiliate teaching site of the University of Queensland (UQ), Dr Silva is also actively involved in medical education and ongoing research. His career has included key registrar roles such as Emergency Medicine Registrar at Flinders Medical Centre, Orthopaedic Registrar at Gold Coast University Hospital, and Senior Registrar in Oncology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, along with additional clinical experience in regional hospitals such as Lismore Base Hospital.
Dr Silva is one of only three practitioners in Australia trained to perform the micro-invasive keyhole ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release procedure. His training and extensive procedural background make him a leading figure and pioneer in modern carpal tunnel treatment, offering patients one of the most advanced, minimal-downtime solutions available.
